Gems was one of a new wave of playwrights who tackled women’s issues in the 3/5(1). A bitingly sardonic modern classic, widely regarded as an historic icon of early feminism, Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi was first seen at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in under the title Dead Fish, Michael Codron transferred the play to the West End under its new title where it enjoyed a huge success and established Pam Gems as a major new Brand: Oberon Books.

Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi is an intriguing study of female friendship, free of sentimentality or hectoring, and offering its insights with wit and economy. The piece’s clear-eyed attitudes come at you all dressed up, like the women in one of the brightest scenes Dusa they toast the Bitch Goddess, dressed up in a wardrobe of colourful garb.3/5.

The Finborough has a knack for brilliant scheduling and in this revival of Pam Gems' s play, Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi I found four women characters that really convinced and spoke to me. Four very different women share a flat: Fish (Olivia Poulet) is a left wing lawyer and political activist, often talking to gatherings to explains women's right and issues to trade union.

A number of her plays stem from this experience and the interests it sustained. InLala, her youngest child, a Down's syndrome baby, went to school and Pam Gems had more time to write. She wrote Dead Fish later called Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi.

Pam Gems believes in the social-contractual nature of marriage and is against the idea of Author: Dimple Godiwala. “Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi may be almost 40 years old, but the struggle it depicts continues: women who are exploring sisterhood, transforming their sexual relationships with men, wrestling with what it means to be a mother, and confronting the possibility that a price might be exacted for their independence.

If that sounds dry, it's not. Gems in Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi represents female experience poin ng out the individual stories of each four tle women characters: Dusa represen. - What's Peen Seen"Originally written inPam Gems' feminist classic Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi has held up remarkably well.

Gems' timelessness lies in her naturalistic style. Though infused with ideology Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi avoids overtly banging a political drum, instead showing us that the personal is always political."Author: Pam Gems. Sometime recently I was asked to revise the text. It was interesting to compare differences in attitudes between the s and the s. Forty years ago, the women of Iceland went on strike - they refused to work, cook and look after children for a day.

It was a moment that changed the way women were seen in the co42 pins. Gems in Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi represents female experience pointing out the individual stories of each four title women characters: Dusa represents maternal instinct, Stas.
